Week 0 (Sep 30)
We started the diary set up for this week. We began to learn about the difference between a high-quality podcast and a low-quality podcast. We chose our teams this week and I picked Hugo, Kanna, and Kimi. We haven't decided on a genre yet but that's for next week.
Week 1 (Oct 7)
Today we're discussing how to find a target audience. We made a form for our group to later send to other classes. We settled on crime as a genre and the form will help us determine a subgenre and a way to story tell.
This is the form we made that we're gonna share with our grade this week. Form
This week we nailed what our target audience wants from the form we made last week. We discovered more people like older true crime. So we researched some older remotely famous crimes like jack the ripper. We went through some names for a podcast and we chose "Unsolved International" and "Statement Ends".
Week 3 (Oct 21)
We have decided on the name "Unsolved international" for our podcast name. For the project class, we were discussing a jingle, host intro, and topic intro. We did a rough draft of our podcast intro which took way too long. Kimi and Kanna did fiddle with the software and came up with a short violin intro. I recorded the warning for the podcast and that was it for today. I jotted down some sounds we could use for our intro or in the background of the podcast episode.
I finished the intro and narrator introduction on our script along with the general feel of the podcast when it comes to the recording later on.
Week 4 (Oct 28)
Today we went into the radio room and briefed through all the different recording equipment we could use for our podcast with Mr. Wayan. I learned there are two different types of microphones we can use. One of them is a dynamic microphone which is perfect for voice acting. Since our podcast is mostly a voice actor-based show I think it's best we use it. I have my own dynamic mic so I can record some lines at home.
I finished the script for the first episode. Kimmi and Kanna were doing a mock script for the advert we would play at the end of the podcast. We had to choose a canteen stall to advertise and they chose the orange one.
Week 5 (Nov 4)
This week I finalized and edited the black dahlia script and practiced reading it out on my own before the recording on Friday. We haven't finished the jack the ripper script but I managed to finish about 60% of it. I think we'll record only the black dahlia and I'll finish the other script at home. I'll also record it at home since I'm the only one who has a mic and I'll be voicing Viena.
For Friday's lesson, we did some research on thumbnails. I researched not only podcast thumbnails but also books, movies, and youtube thumbnails. We were also tasked to make either a real or fake social media account with at least 12 posts.
Week 6 (Nov 18)
Due to last week's project lesson being cancelled due to a national holiday we had to do a lot of stuff in our free time. In the past two weeks I managed to finish my thumbnail development along with the fake social media account for our podcast. The day we were supposed to record our podcast audio didn't go as planned as the radio room turn out to be an unsuitable place to record for my group. The room was too echoey and the canteen was full at the time so we all decided to just let me voice Viena at home because I had a really good microphone and I'm able to record things by myself.
I requited my friends Jaedon, Jack, and Lynn from abroad to help voice the extra speaking lines in the two episodes. As of now we have all the needed audio except for Jack the Ripper's letters. Hopefully I will have them by the week end.
The thumbnail research was completed last week so I went and did the sketches to see what thumbnail I liked to be our podcast logo. I decided ton the one I fully drew out.
Week 7 (Nov 25)
This is the final week of the podcast project and my team has completed everything in the brief. I got all audio clips from Jaedon, Lynn, and Jack to Kimi as she finished editing the two episodes.
We all made our own versions of the thumbnail but decided that Kanna's was the best so we used it. She also made an entire Instagram page for our project completed with highlights and posts.
We were tasked to make a critical self reflection on the project we completed. The word minimum was 600 words and I went past 1000 with how much I had to talk about. Mr Nick said we had to present the essay in a fun and interesting way so he said to make our critical self analysis on prezzi. The site was a little difficult to navigate at first but after a few hours of fiddling with the site I managed to make the presentation with out much difficulty.
