We were given the question on how did New Media effect the way we consume media and our class did a group discussion and these are our answers
"For example, thousands of youtube channels are dedicated to dubbing or translate and dubbing fan comics based on multiple fandoms or for some a specific one"
"New media is able to create fan services to satisfy more audiences. A case study would be Spider-Man: No Way Home, as it uses CGI to show characters from previous Spider-Man movies looking younger."
"New media has made gaming more immersive as its heightens the realism of the graphics by using CGI to manipulate the lighting that natural lighting could not achieve. For example in GOD Of War Ragnarok. Comparing to the old God Of War games rather than texture-less environments and characters, the advancement in technology of CGI has made the game more realistic looking."
"New media has changed traditional medias such as movies in terms of the quality of production. Movies now features a higher quality animation due to new media improving. Animations now does not only target lower aged kids but also targeting teenagers to young adults. A case study would be in the animated movie Entergalactic, released in 2022. In this movie, a combination of many animation art styles are used which are high quality. This is due to the advancement of technology throughout the time which goes along with new media."
"New media has allowed companies to distribute their own advertisement and different content that is outside of their focus to draw in a bigger audience using a third party platform. Hoyoverse is a gaming company famously known to produce the game Genshin Impact. The company has a YouTube channel with over 6 million subscribers where they post character teasers, game soundtrack music videos , and videos on how aspects of the game is made. Hoyoverse posting these videos on YouTube allows people who are unfamiliar with the game to see what they offer. The older videos from 2 years ago still appear on people's recommended feed and cause a long tail effect. Whenever a new animated character trailer or demo releases the fandom immediately talk about it (social relationships) and prosumers create fanart and trailer analysis before the character is officially released."
"New media has made platforms like TikTok, Youtube shorts and Instagram Reels which allows audiences to be prosumers instead of just consumers. An example is how these platforms and prosumerism made Disney’s Encanto (2021) blow up on the internet. TikTok has made it possible for people to upload their own content, both related and unrelated to Encanto, with “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”, the soundtrack of Encanto without getting copyright striked which then became a trend and made the song and the movie very popular".
"New technologies have allowed the Media to develop movies in extremely high quality, 4k or even 8k resolutions are now available or common in blockbuster films and CGI Is used extensively. For example in the new Avatar 2 film ( 2022 ) that has heavy use on visual effects is done because of new graphics , computers and rendering technology. That allows processing to done in such a high rate to allow movies like Avatar to be done completely with CGI technologies."
"New media enables the use of VFX/CGI to make movies better, in a way that enhances the visuals of the film, making better movies overall and in some cases cheaper than props. An example of this would be the Avenger: Infinity War movie, where the movie uses numerous effects for the magic, characters, suits, mobs, weapons etc. Out of more than 2,700 shots in Infinity War, only 80 didn't feature any visual effects, without the use of them, the movie would be impossible to make."

'New medias are able to make a scene where it could replicate a face of an actress/actor, an example would be Star wars: rise of Skywalkers, in the middle of making the movie princess leia actress passed away and they need to continue to produce the movie so they replicate leia face to another person."
"New media enables making movies or shows much more accesable as before you need to wait a certain time for a show but now you can just find the show or movies in websites such as Netflix, Disney + and many more"
"new media change films to be more realistic, for example the use of CGI. on the black panther movie. In this film, Marvel uses CGI to make it more realistic and real. the second example of the film was game of thrones to make the dragon visual and the audience could see it. In conclusion, we used to listen to music on the radio, now we can listen to it on social media"
