We spent this week doing a lot of advert analysis. We did around three essays on three different adverts of our choice to take notes from.
Week 2
This week was dedicated to storyboarding. We learned how to storyboard in class and how to reverse engineer a storyboard from our chosen ads.
These are mine:
Week 3
I started with choosing my product to advertise and I chose an oldy but a goody: Aqua. Since my target audience is going to be local I want to use an already very familiar band. After researching, I chose to make the advert in the style of western adverts. Bringing a familiar product in a new and interesting way.
I also went on a research spree on different ads for aqua and other ads from the west as inspiration.
Week 4
I brainstormed some ideas and the idea of a mermaid eminently came to mind. I did a couple of character sketches and that helped me decide the advert was going to be animated.
Wanting to parody Disney's The Little Mermaid, I referenced Ariel's design (Mostly the hair) for my mermaid's visuals.
Week 5
After doing some character sketches and planning I went on to do the rough storyboards.
Week 6
After doing some frames digitally to see how well the story flowed I edited them all together to get the timing right. I spent the whole week doing and finishing these frames and going back and forward with the timing until I was happy with it.
Week 7
After some discussion with the teacher, I decided to add more frames to the end. Showing the number on the clicker. Showing the fisherman burp since burping is associated with beer and alcohol. I liked this outcome a lot better.
Week 8
I spent the whole week putting all my frames into one A4 paper and writing down all the shots, angles, sound, and timing. It was extremely tedious so it took the whole week. In the end, I managed to get all the frames onto about 5 pages for grading.
Week 9
This week was just trying to finish my Critical analysis. This week was really busy for me so I tried to finish it quick since I already finished the final storyboard and all my advert analysis.
