Billie Eilish first wrote and sung Oceans eyes in 2015 on SoundCloud when she was just 13. Later in 2016 she made a music video of the song and it went viral. From that day on she created songs with the help of her brother Finneas O'Connell. All her music videos and songs are uploaded to her YouTube channel. After Ocean eyes went viral she joined Darkroom and Interscope Records. All her songs and albums are also available on Spotify. All her songs are produced by her and her brother as they both are able to play instruments and mix audio by themselves.

The traditional method of achieving success in the music industry is by pitching your song or album to a label or radio and hoping your songs do well. But now thanks to new media artists and musicians are able to distribute and share their work on their own without needing to be associated with a brand or big name label.

Billie has her own clothing collection and perfume line that she sells to her fans. Her iconic color neon green has been a staple part of her branding and can be seen all over her clothing line. Billie is mostly associated with her very baggy clothes back when she first started going viral so her clothing line mostly reflects that fashion of street wear.

Billie only ever collaborated with one artist, Khalid, in her songs Hostage and Lovely. In her song You Should See Me In A Crown (2019) the second music video was animated by Takashi Murakami. Takashi is Japan's most popular artist and brought a Japanese and artistic audience to her music.
